The Bernwode Benefice draws together Christians from the seven parishes of Ashendon, Boarstall, Brill, Chilton, Dorton, Ludgershall and Wotton Underwood, in the hilly area of Aylesbury Vale, to worship following the Anglican form of worship. We are a lively community of men, women and children working together to grow in our Christian faith and to show God’s love in our communities.
Welcome to the Bernwode Benefice
We have a variety of activities for everyone:
- Our church services cover everything from the more formal services, in traditional or modern language, to our weekly informal Encounter services
- Our home groups meet regularly throughout the year to share the Christian journey and to read the Bible together
- Live Wires is for children up to the age of 11 years old
- and don't forget other activities such as the bellringers or the choir who add their music to our worship
During the vacancy Jenny Edmans, Associate Minister, will be taking pastoral charge of the Benefice. Please feel free if you want to talk to ger about anything: personal (for example, about a baptism, wedding or funeral or something personal or spiritual) or something around the benefice (for example, services, home groups, etc) or just to talk.
For more general matters, please contact our Benefice Administrator, Lisa Lambert at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 07494 89772 on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Find out what is going on in the area and take a look at the parish pages.
Compline / Evening prayer
Please join Jenny and Peter for a short service of Compline
Each Sunday at 6pm.
You can join either using the internet or by telephone.
Returning to church based worship
The good news is that we are allowed to return to worship in churches under strict rules. Details of services can be found in the current edition of the BN, churchwardens or Jenny.
The ability of churches to open for private prayer is now become irregular. This is because of the rules affecting churches that are now returning to services in Church.
These rules mean that churches have to be locked for 72 hours either side of a service.
As you will be aware, Priscilla has now retired and has left the benefice.
With that, we have now started the process of finding a new priest to fill the vacancy. It can take time to find the right candidate for the post (before Priscilla arrived, the previous vacancy had lasted some 15 months).
The next week...
Sunday, 9th August
