Dorton text

St John the Baptist church was built as a chapel of ease and the original building is thought to date back to the 12th century with the font bowl surviving from this time. The church has been added to since then, including the South Porch, South Aisle, Chancel and stained glass window. The church has three bells plus a small Sanctus bell which were restored for the Millennium, though for chiming only.
